Speeding vehicles claim lives of three young men crossing roads

Four people, including three pedestrians, were killed in separate accidents in Electronics City, Thalghattapura, RTNagar and Banaswadi since Tuesday evening.

A 25-year-old pedestrian was knocked down by a speeding car while he was crossing the road near Chikka Begur gate near Electronics City in the early hours of Wednesday.

The deceased is Bheemappa, a driver of a private packers and movers company and a resident of Kudlu Gate. Around 12.30 am, Bheemappa jumped over the barricade on the median to cross the road when he was knocked down by a speeding vehicle that sped away.

Passersby who found Bheemappa lying in a pool of blood, alerted the Electronics City traffic police.

Lorry hits man

A 27-year-old person was hit by a lorry when he was boarding a Tempo Traveller on NICERoad near Thalaghattapura.

The police said that around 12.45 am, Puneeth Kumar, a businessman and a resident of HSR Layout, was on his way to his friends house.

He was waiting for public transport on NICERoad and noticed people boarding a Tempo Traveller.

When Kumar ran to board the vehicle, a speeding lorry hit a car and knocked Kumar down and ran him over. Passersby informed Thalaghattapura police, who shifted Kumar to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead. The lorry driver, who is being treated for minor injuries, lost control over the vehicle and hit a car before knocking down Kumar, added the police.

Guard knocked down

A 26-year-old security guard was hit by an unidentified vehicle on Outer Ring Road near Bhima Jewellers in Banaswadi on Tuesday night.

According to the police, the deceased is Narasimhulu, 46, a native of Andhra Pradesh who was living in Chellakere near Hennur. He was working as a security guard at a private company. Around 7.30 pm, he was crossing the road when an unidentified vehicle knocked him down. The public informed the Banaswadi traffic police, who shifted him to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The passersby told the police that a cab which was being driven rashly, hit Narasimhulu. CCTV footage is being obtained to identify the vehicle.

Biker killed

A hotel employee was killed after he crashed his bike into a stationary lorry near CBI office on Ballari Road.

The police said that the deceased is Charan Somaiah, 24, an employee of a hotel and a native of Kodagu. Around 12.30 am, Somaiah was returning home in R T Nagar after work when he failed to notice a lorry parked by the roadside and drove his bike into it. He sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot.

The RT Nagar police shifted his body for post-mortem. The lorry has been seized and the driver is absconding.
