The police on Monday detained protesters who tried to picket Vidhana Soudha, following attacks on Kannadigas in Tamil Nadu.

Tens of protesters led by Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha president Vatal Nagaraj, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike president Praveen Shetty and Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce chief Sa Ra Govindu tried to barge into Vidhana Soudha, but they were rounded up by the police. Earlier, Nagaraj told reporters that pro-Kannada organisations had called for a statewide 'rail roko' on September 15, opposing the Supreme Court verdict.

On that day, activists would take a protest rally from Mysore Bank Circle in the City Railway Station. He also gave a call for blacking out Tamil channels and a ban on screening Tamil films in the state.
