The postgraduate students of Bangalore University staged a protest in front of the vice-chancellor's office on Wednesday demanding action against a research scholar who reportedly attacked one of them.
The students demanded that Sridhar, a research scholar, has formed his own group and attacked Chandrashek-har, Gangadhar and Anjinappa in the students' hostel. He should be expelled from the hostel and his PhD registration should be cancelled, they demanded.
VC Thimme Gowda assured them that a notice has been issued to the warden to expel Sridhar from the hostel. His PhD registration has been temporarily cancelled, he said.
On Tuesday, a case was registered against Sridhar in Jnanabharathi police station for assaulting three students. He is currently absconding.
