A 28-year-old man sustained serious injuries after a corporator's husband attacked him with a lethal weapon over an old rivalry in Tipu Nagar, Chamarajpet on Monday. Nadeem, a resident of Tipu Nagar, was taken to a hospital and he is stated to be stable.
The police launched a search operation to arrest the suspect, Ayub Khan. He is the husband of KRMarket ward (139) corporator, Nazima Khanam.
According to the police, Nadeem and Khan are relatives.Difference of opinion cropped up between the two during the BBMP elections and the two nurtured grudge against each other since then. Khan picked a fight with Nadeem near the latter's house over a petty issue on Monday. He chased Nadeem brandishing a weapon and attacked him around 1.45 pm. He fled the spot as local residents rushed to Nadeem's rescue.
"We have booked Khan under IPCSection 307 (attempt to murder). We have obtained clues about his whereabouts and will arrest him shortly"the police said.
