The South-East division police claimed to have solved 25 cases, including robbery, burglary and drug peddling among others, by arresting nine persons.
The police have recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 1 crore from the nine arrested. The police have recovered 1.5 kg gold, 2 kg silver, 3 tipper vehicles, a car, 4 television sets and 1 kg ganja, all total worth of Rs 25 crore.
In one of the cases, the Varthur police arrested a 28-year-old man and seized five kg of ganja worth Rs 1 lakh. The suspect has been identified as Shankar Mahtha, a resident of Marathahalli and a native of Bihar. The police said he was arrested while he was trying to sell ganja near Balagere road at Varthur.
Based on a tip-off, the police in mufti visited the spot and found Mahtha selling ganja. They then approached him posing as customers and when he showed them the ganja, he was arrested.
