The general secretary of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha (SGSS), Halasuru, was booked for posting obscene pictures on the Sri Guru Singh Sabha whatsApp group. Police said the suspect, KDSingh Pawar, 62, had posted the pictures on September 30 around 10.43 am on Wednesday.

The police booked Pawar under section 67 A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act, etc, in electronic form). The police have sent the pictures to the Forensic Science Laboratory for a report and have decided to question him.

The complainant, Dr Harminder Singh, stated that Pawar posted the pictures of carrots that resembled male and female reproductive organs. He stated that since women and children were also members of the group, it was in the public domain. "Pawar's act denigrated the post of Gurudwara secretary and disreputed the Gurudwara Sri Singh Sabha and the entire Sikh community,'' he said. Harminder told the police that he decided to lodge a complaint as there was no response from the Halasuru Gurudwara president and the executive committee members even after repeatedly informing them to take action.

When contacted, Pawar told DH : "I did not post the pictures intentionally but did it by mistake. I posted apology to the members and the administration within five minutes of the post which was actually a forwarded message from a friend.'' He said that Singh had an issue with his uncle and hence was targetting him.The general secretary of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha (SGSS), Halasuru, was booked for posting obscene pictures on the Sri Guru Singh Sabha whatsApp group.
