Parks destroyed in Vijayanagar

A small park with lots of greenery and flowering plants was located at 6th Main, CHBS Layout in Vijayanagar. Two months ago, the park was destroyed in the name of renovation and several concrete structures sprung up in place of greenery. A very small patch of lawn is all that remains in the park.

In another park located at HT Lines in Vijayanagar, most of the plants are uprooted. Unnecessary concrete structures and concrete floors have come up without any open space for trees.

The whole purpose of renovation seems nothing but to "give contract" and "pass bills." Instead of wasting money, gardeners and watchmen can be appointed to take care of the parks.

Meanwhile, the huge playground at MC Layout in Vijayanagar is extensively let out for commercial purpose. With exhibitions lined up through the year, the children do not have space to play.

Stop burning, dumping garbage near NICERd

Heaps of garbage dumped on the stretch adjacent to the NICE Road that connects Pillaganahalli, has turned the place into a mini-landfill. Garbage is frequently burnt and the residents in the surrounding areas face a tough time. Complaints to the BMMP has not helped solve the matter. At least now, the authorities concerned should take measures to ensure that the dumping and burning of garbage is halted.

Dumping yard posing problems

The site number 66 on 3rd Cross, 2nd Stage, RK Layout in Padmanabhanagar has become a dumping yard. For the last three decades the owner of the site has neglected the place and has not bothered to get the site cleaned. Families residing in the adjacent houses are getting the site cleaned regularly.

The site is full of wild vegetation and is inhabited with all sorts of wild creatures. The stink from the garbage is posing problems for the neighbours. Miscreants assemble on the site during the night and are seen engaged in anti-social activities. It is high time the authorities concerned warn the site owner and take action against him.

BBMP neglects its own premises

The front yard of the BBMP which comes under the Halasuru Gate police station is full of squalor and stench. It speaks volumes about the apathy of BBMP right in the front of its head quarters. The KSTDC head quarters is also located in the same area and several tourists visit the place. Will the Palike wake up to clear the dirt right in front of its building?

Underpass work hinders traffic

The underpass work at the Rajkumar Samadhi Junction has been stalled for the last three months. The half-completed work is affecting traffic movement and motorists are facing the a lot of problems while passing through the stretch every day.

No bus service in Kasavanahalli

There is no bus service (hardly one or two buses in a day) on the road that connects Hosa Road with Sarjapur Road at Karnataka Power Corporation Layout, Kasavanahalli.

More than 3,000 people live at KPCL Layout. In addition, there are many layouts and apartments between Kaikondarahalli and Hosa Road. The lack of bus service has caused inconvenience, forcing most of the most residents to use their own cars and motorcycles. I request the BMTC to ply adequate number of buses from this road to Majestic, KR Market and the airport.

Clear gas pipelines from footpath

Gas pipelines are being laid on the footpath in BTM layout 2nd Stage for two months now. Residents and pedestrians are badly affected. The presence of big pipes on the footpath has forced people to walk on the busy 100 ft main road and risk their lives. Writing to GAIL and the BBMP has not resulted anything.

Instal UGD, then tar road

Ramaiah Layout in Horamavu lacks basic amenities such as underground drainage and water connection. The road is being laid without underground drainage. I'm afraid the road will be dug up later to build drains, wasting money and resources. I request the BBMP to first instal underground drainage and water connection network and then tar the road.

No footpath in Vasanthnagar

There are no pavements in any cross road of Vasanthnagar unlike other areas. As a result, most of the rainwater does not go into drains. The authorities must take note of this problem.

Unhygienic practice by sanitation workers

Pourakarmikas (sanitation workers) "handle" all kinds of garbage, including poison. They use whistle with their hands. This is an unhygienic practice that should be done away with as soon as possible. Garbage trolleys should instead be fixed with soft bellows-horns or bicycle-bells that are pleasing to the ear and minimise health risks to pourakarmikas.

Dangerous traffic junction

The place where 30th Cross Road in Jayanagar 4th 'T' Block meets 18th Main is a dangerous junction. It is difficult to cross 30th Cross Road before or after the junction and so is to cross 18th Main. To make matter worse, people coming from 18th Main drive through 30th Cross Road next to Advaitha gas bunk (now closed), though the entry is prohibited as this is a one-way stretch.

I request the authorities concerned to instal traffic signals at this junction and set up CCTV cameras to catch and punish the offenders.

Stray dog menace on the rise

Stray dog menace is on the rise in the Poornapragna Layout. The dogs bark for the whole night disturbing peace and tranquility in the locality. They chase two-wheeler riders leading to accidents. The issue was brought to the notice of the local corporator but to no avail. The authorities concerned are requested to take immediate action to check the menace.

Road in pathetic condition

The stretch of the road near Guttahalli Circle is in a pathetic condition. Many commuters, including schoolchildren use this road daily. Neither the BBMP officials nor the local corporator is bothered about repairing the road. The road with high traffic density needs to be repaired at the earliest.

Bannerghatta Road not restored

Bannerghatta Road is going from bad to worse, especially the stretch from Gottigere to Basavanapura Gate. Recently, the stretch was dug for laying a water pipeline and even after six weeks, the road has not been restored.

Huge potholes have formed due to rains and this has further aggravated the condition of the road. Both motorists and pedestrians have a tough time commuting on this stretch. In the evenings, there are no streetlights on the stretch between Basavanapura Gate to Nice Road.

A lot has been spoken about the widening of the road, but nothing has materialised till date. I request the authorities concerned to take immediate measures for repair and widening of the road.
