Karnataka's famed Dasara celebrations beckons a passenger right when he/she lands at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

The Kannada and Culture department and the Bangalore Internatinoal Airport Limited (BIAL) have jointly organised a 10-day cultural extravaganza, a lively mix of music and dance performances designed to show off South India's cultural dexterity to a global audience, at the airport.

The festival is intended to create memories of the region, in a new and refreshing way, said BIAL officials.

This is the second edition of the Dasara festival at the airport.

The venue for all the performances is a space near Departure Terminal Gate 1.
BIAL Managing Director, G V Sanjay Reddy had this to say: "The Dasara celebration at our airport is an effort to preserve and promote South India's deep history of art, culture and tradition. As a role model for sustainable progress we believe art must be carried forward. It is our attempt through this festival to showcase to the world the cultural dynamism of this region and offer artistes a global platform to display their skills."

As part of the festival, the airport has invited children from the underprivileged community attached to non-government Organisations.

Artistes from Bengaluru, Mysuru, Ramanagaram, Koppal, and Chikballapura are performing in the festival, concluding on October 9.
