Citizens Action Forum has come to the aid of Srikanth Kanchi, one of the victims of the anti-encroachment drive whose house at Avani Sringeri Nagar was razed by the BBMP.
CAF has chosen the crowdfunding route to rebuild Kanchis house after learning about his poor financial condition. CAF office-bearers visited Avani Sringeri Nagar on Friday and found that the documents Kanchi possessed were valid. He owned an A khata property based on which a nationalised bank gave him a loan of Rs 25 lakh. After the demolition, he has moved into a rented house for which he pays Rs 5,000 a month besides the EMI on his demolished house.
In her appeal, CAF secretary Mahalakshmi Parthasarathy said, "His (Kanchi) was one of the first of the 140 houses brought down by the BBMP. Kanchi had lost his father in his childhood. Since then, he stayed in Hyderabad with his mother and brother. He studied in government schools and completed his BCom. Presently he is working as a financial analyst in HP, Bengaluru.
