The Kengeri police have arrested 12 members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, including eight women, in connection with riots and arson during the protest against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu on September 12.
A senior police officer said, "The arrested are Sahana, Sushila, Prema, Chaitanya, Ramadevi, Manjula, Narmada, Chaitra, Mohan, Tanveer, Chandrashekar and Kempanna. They were arrested from various parts of the city, Anekal and Attbibele."
"On September 12, they barged into Akshaya Motors on Mysuru Road, vandalised the showroom and assaulted the employees. The entire act was recorded on CCTV. Based on the details provided by informants, the rioters were arrested. The suspects have confessed to the act. They have been remanded in judicial custody," he said.
