A 45-year-old constable was injured when he accidentally pulled the trigger of a .303 service rifle.
The incident occured in Channarayapatna police station in Devanahalli taluk, Bengaluru Rural disrict, on Tuesday night.
Ramesh, a constable, sustained a bullet injury when he accidentally pulled the trigger. He was shifted to Columbia Asia Hospital near Hebbal. He is out of danger now, the police stated. Around 10.30 pm, Ramesh, while keeping the rifle in the station, pulled the trigger.
The bullet injured his left shoulder and he collapsed.
A senior police officer said, "It was an accident and Ramesh should have been careful while keeping back the service rifle. No case has been registered as it was an accident. But an enquiry has been ordered and it is being investigated on how exactly the incident took place."
