A day after the CBSE disaffiliated schools under the National Public School (NPS) group for "forging documents" to claim minority status, a letter from the group's chairman to parents has claimed that no official intimation has been sent to the schools by the CBSE on the matter.
The letter asked parents not to "panic or spread rumours" on the matter and said that the group was seeking legal counsel to address the issue. Further, the letter stated that it strongly refuted the allegations of forgery of documents and that RTE students had been admitted in the last three academic years.
Deaffiliation
Following the confirmation by the National Commission for Minority Education Institutions that schools under the NPS group had forged minority certificates, the Commissioner for Public Instruction had asked the CBSE to disaffiliate the schools.
Orders to lodge FIRs were also issued. A highly placed officer in the Primary and Secondary Education department said that the matter of lodging FIRs was "still being examined," and that the CBSE had issued orders for disaffiliation was a "more potent" step.
According to the letter issued by CBSE on Tuesday, the board has asked the schools not to run classes 9 and 11 from 2017-2018. Students set to give their class 10 and class 12 board exams next year, however, have nothing to worry about.
