The marking of buildings on the stormwater drains (SWDs) at 35 locations in the city will be completed on Thursday and the BBMPwill start the demolition drive from Saturday.

BBMP Chief Engineer (SWDs) Siddegowda said surveyors were supposed to finish marking of the buildings by Wednesday evening. But they could not complete the task as they were confronted with many challenges.

"Our drive to remove encroachments of stormwater drains will start from Saturday. Against our expectation, the markings could not end by Wednesday evening. The surveyors may finish the work by Thursday," said Siddegowda.

All the 26 surveyors who had previously measured the stormwater drains across Bengaluru and prepared the survey sketches, have been pressed into service to identify encroachments of stormwater drains. So far none of the mega residential apartments or a major commercial or industrial hub has been marked for demolition.

"Survey of Prestige Tech Park is underway. Hence, the marking has not been done. It will take some time," said Siddegowda. Regarding Orion Mall, he said the survey report is yet to reach the BBMP.

Sources in the BBMP said there are more than 1,000 buildings in 246 survey numbers of 18 villages in seven BBMP zones. The action plan for the demolition of buildings, encroaching upon the stormwater drains, will be prepared from Friday.

The villages where the demolition will be carried out include Yelahanka, Kogilu, Thiruvenahalli, Sampigehalli, Thindlu and Jakkur in Yelahanka Zone; KP Agrahara, Barige Muddanahalli and Matthikere in West Zone; Doddakunte, Bellandur, Nagawara and Kalkere in East Zone, Madiwala, Hulimavu in Bommanahalli Zone; Gavipura in South Zone, Abbigere, Chikkasandra, Shettihalli and Chokkasandra in Dasarahalli Zone.

The list does not include any property in Rajarajeshwari Nagar Zone where Kannada actor Darshans house was said to be one among the many properties on the SWDs.
