Bike rider Kirtan Ritchie and the father of the minor boy, from whom he had borrowed the bike, have been remanded in judicial custody till September 19. The minor boy has been sent to a juvenile home.
Ritchie borrowed the bike from his friend, the minor boy. He had helped the minor boy to buy a second hand bike from a man in Thippasandra.The minor boy did not posses a driving licence. He was pestering his father, Chandrashekar, a contractor, to buy him a bike. Chandrashekar gave him Rs 38,000 to buy a used bike. Ritchie knew a person who sold modified bikes and took the minor boy to see the bike. They purchased the bike which was modified to perform stunts, the police said.
A senior police officer said: "We will also question the mechanic, who modifies bikes for performing stunts. A surprise drive will be conducted any time to seize the modified bikes. Performing stunts on busy roads will be dealt with an iron hand."
