The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP)is buildng a new international-level swimming pool at Byrasandra in Jayanagar at an estimated cost of Rs 12.5 crore.
Mayor G Padmavathi who performed the groundbreaking ceremony said the swimming pool which will be completed in a year will help those aspiring to become international swimmers. She said it is a proud moment for her as a mayor that an ambitious project has been taken up during her term.
The pool will be built by PM Swimming on the basis of the Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) model.
The pool will be in the custody of PM Swimming for 35 years after which it will be transferred to the BBMP. The company will also pay Rs 60,000 as rent to the BBMP every month.
