The vacation bench of the High Court of Karnataka on Thursday relaxed the bail conditions of Riyazullah (Riyaz), the former public relations officer of Karnataka Lokayukta, allowing him to fly abroad.
Justice H B Prabhakara Sastry passed an order relaxing Riyaz's bail conditions by returning his passport with a condition that he should deposit a bond of Rs 50,000 with two sureties of the same amount.
The judge permitted him to go abroad till the end of June, 2017 and to surrender his passport after he returns to India. Riyaz had approached the court seeking his passport to fly to Medina in Saudi Arabia to perform certain rituals following his mother's death. His bail conditions were relaxed after Riyaz's counsel submitted to the court that his client has been cooperating in the trial court.
