Huge tree falls on bus, none hurt

A KSRTC Scania Airavat bus, an SUV and an autorickshaw were damaged after a huge tree came crashing down on them on Margosa Road in Malleswaram on Saturday morning. No one was injured.

According to the police, around 9 am, the bus from Shirdi was heading for the KSRTC bus stand when the branch fell on it as it reached 11th Cross. The 20 passengers in the bus escaped unhurt. The SUV and autorickshaw were following the bus. The tops of the three vehicles and windows were damaged in the incident.

The BBMP and forest officials rushed to spot and cleared the tree and vehicles around 11.30 am. Traffic was thrown out of gear in the area for more than three hours. The road was cleared around 12.30 pm.

Traffic affected
Meanwhile, traffic was badly affected in the central business district and the city's outskirts on Saturday evening due to festival rush. The KSRTC had introduced additional buses that originated from Shanthinagar bus stand and satellite bus stand on Mysuru Road.

Private operators had also introduced additional buses. A large number private vehicles on the roads caused jams on Hosur Road, Ballari Road, Mysuru Road, City Market area, KGRoad, Madiwala, Okalipuram, Peenya, Yeshwantpur, Hongasandra, Rajagopalnagar, Malleswaram, KRCircle and Hudson Circle, said the police. The traffic police deployed additional men to ensure smooth flow on the roads. There was heavy congestion in the city's outskirts till late night.
