The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested a Bescom engineer on the charge of graft. The accused, H C Rajesh, is an assistant executive engineer (AEE) of Bescom, Kaggalipura.
The complainant, Munikalayya, is a resident of Kaggalipura in Ramanagaram district and an electric contractor.
He had approached the Bescom office seeking electricity connection for a newly constructed house. Rajesh demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 to accord the connection. Based on a complaint, ACB sleuths laid a trap and arrested Rajesh while he was accepting the bribe.
Rajesh was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act and produced before a magistrate who remanded him in judicial custody.
