After facing charges of land encroachment, Chief Secretary Arvind Jadhav is now accused of tarnishing the image of one his senior colleagues.

According to sources, Additional Chief Secretary Ratna Prabha has issued a legal notice to Jadhav, accusing him of tarnishing her image and scuttling her chances of becoming the state chief secretary. She has also charged him with meting out discriminatory treatment on the basis of gender.

Ratna Prabha, according to sources, accused the Chief Secretary of deliberately not replying to a letter by the Department of Personnel and Training at the Centre. The Centre had in December last sought to know from the state government whether further investigation was required on a case related to development of Indu Tech Park when she was heading the IT and BT department in the then Andhra Pradesh government.

Jadhav had not responded to the letter for over five months. This, according to her, was done in order to scuttle her chances of becoming the chief secretary. Jadhav had attained superannuation in June this year. Ratna Prabha, who was one of the aspirants for the chief secretary's post, has accused Jadhav of using the letter to tarnish her image and prevent her from becoming the chief secretary.

She has claimed that she brought the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister in June this year. Jadhav, however, did not reply to the letter even after the Chief Minister's direction. He replied that no investigation was required in the Rathna Praha case.

When contacted, Ratna Prabha refused to comment on the issue. Jadhav, however, said he was neither aware of any letter from the Centre nor has he received any legal notice.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday said Jadhav's term will end this month and that the government will appoint a new chief secretary.
