A young woman died when her drunk friend lost control of his motorbike and it skidded on the road below the Horamavu flyover in eastern Bengaluru on Tuesday night, police said.
Ashok (24) was riding the two-wheeler, with his friend Vinitha Vishal (24) on the pillion. They were headed towards TC Palya and neither was wearing helmet. Upon reaching the road below the flyover, Ashok lost control of the motorbike which skidded for some distance. He managed to jump off the vehicle but Vinitha got stuck in it and sustained grievous head injuries.
Passersby took both of them to a private hospital where Vinitha was declared brought dead. The jurisdictional Banaswadi traffic police rushed to the spot and seized the motorbike. They also took Ashok for a medical examination which showed he was drunk beyond the permissible limit. He was booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Section 304 of the IPC.
