TheHigh Court on Friday directed the state government to inform the court on its road-widening project on Ballari Road from Mehkri Circle to Vidhana Soudha. A division bench comprising Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice Ravi Malimath pulled up the government for not addressing the traffic congestion around Mehkri Circle despite complaints about frequent traffic jams in the area.
The bench said, if there are already instructions to the state government to pay transferrable development rights (TDR) to land owners, why has there been a delay in implementing TDR.
During the hearing, the BBMP counsel submitted that they were ready to carry out road-widening work provided they get clearance from government authorities. The government counsel sought time to get instructions with regard to payment of TDR to land owners. The bench directed the government to make their submission in an affidavit on September 7, 2016.
