A private college lecturer from Yadgir was thrashed by the public who claimed that he had picked the pockets of four passengers on Bidar Express train on Thursday. He was handed over to the Yeshwantpur Railway police.
According to the police, Nagaraju was travelling to the city by Bidar Express to meet his relative. Four people in the compartment found they had lost their wallets and suspected Nagaraju and thrashed him. The other passengers also entered the fray.
They handed him over to the police and lodged a complaint. When Nagaraju was checked, the police could not find any money on him. Nagaraju claimed that he was unaware who had picked the pockets and that he was being framed for no fault of his, said the police.
A case has been registered at the Yeshwantpur Railway police station.
