H R Ananth, District Governor (3190) of Rotary International, who is also the managing director of Bangalore Press on Sunday said the organisation has proposed to support as many as 200 government schools across Karnataka during this academic year.

He was speaking at the "Saadhane Sambhrama" programme hosted to celebrate the 'World No. 1 District' award, which was achieved under the leadership of its immediate past president Flight Lieutenant (Retd) K P Nagesh for an array of activities in 2015-16.

Congratulating Nagesh for setting a new benchmark in the Rotary world, Ananth said he would take the previous year as a model to lead the team. "We have begun this year with a successful blood donation camp that is going to be certified as a Guinness record shortly. The camp, which was spread in 60 clubs and 15 centres, was able to donate 3,500 units of blood to the needy. Apart from the proposal to support government schools, we will take up many more social service projects besides encouraging new memberships and monetary contribution to the club", he said.

Major contributors, past and present office-bearers were felicitated on the occasion. K R Ravindran, immediate past president of Rotary International congratulated Rotary District 3190. V Raja Seenivasan, RRFC and Nagendra Prasad, past district president were present.
