The driver of a mini goods vehicle was killed on the spot, while another person sustained injuries in an accident on a flyover near Chikkajala, Ballari Road, on Friday.The deceased has been identified as Nanjunda B (37), a resident of Kasturbanagar on Mysuru Road. Sushalendra Desai (45), a resident of JPNagar, was injured.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 2.15 pm. Desai was transporting a cupboard from KRMarket to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Nanjunda's vehicle. The mini goods vehicle turned upside down on the road after a taxi hit it from behind. While Nanjunda sustained massive head injuries and died on the spot, Sushalendra also fell and was injured. The taxi driver fled immediately, said the police.
On being alerted, the police came to the spot.They rushed the two to a nearby hospital. The police cleared the vehicle from the road and facilitated vehicular movement. The police arrested the taxi driver Prabhakar within an hour of the accident and seized his vehicle. The accident affected movement of vehicls on the flyover towards the KIA for about 20 minutes, said the police.
