Kuvempu University's decision to withdraw dress code imposed on students of Sahyadri college in the city triggered a protest on Friday.
Wearing saffron shawls, Hindu students demanded implementation of the dress code, and opposed Muslim students wearing burqas in classrooms. As students from the two communities had heated arguments, SP Abhinav Khare and other officials rushed to the college and brought the situation under control.
