A British national was found dead in the bathroom of his room at Courtyard Marriott on the Outer Ring Road on Marathahalli-Sarjapur road, southeast Bengaluru, on Monday.
Owen Keith Michael, 51, a software engineer from London employed by JP Morgan, had checked into the hotel on August 16.
He did not come out of the room until late afternoon on Monday. There was no response when the staff called the landline in the room.
The staff grew suspicious and opened the door. Michael was lying in the bathroom. There were no injury marks on his body.
Police suspected that Michael collapsed on the floor and died of cardiac arrest on Sunday night. The body was moved to the Bowring Hospital for post-mortem. Police have registered a case of unnatural death.
The police inspector said they would question the management of JPMorgan as well as Courtyard Marriott for more information about Michael.
Police will notify the UK High Commission and the Ministry of External Affairs on Michael's death to arrange for sending the body to London.
