Names of several influential persons, including politicians, officials and businessmen, will figure in the list of encroachers in the report of the Legislative Assembly committee on lake encroachments, Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad said on Friday.
Koliwad, who heads the committee, told reporters here that the panel would table its report in the next legislature session.
He said the committee will also highlight the timeline of encroachments. "We will not succumb to any pressure, and present an unbiased report," he said.
Koliwad said the report had been sent for printing. The committee had also recommended action against officials named in the report. "The committee's duty is to make recommendations. It is left to the government to initiate action," he added.
Koliwad admitted that there has been delay in initiating action, if need be, against eight rebel JD(S) MLAs, who crossvoted during the Rajya Sabha elections held in June.
The JD(S) has sought disqualification of the MLAs and the latter had presented their arguments before him. "I will soon pass an order," he said.
Action has been sought against B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan, Iqbal Ansari, Akhanda Srinivasmurthy, K Gopalaiah, Bheema Naik, Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, N Cheluvarayaswamy and H C Balakrishna.
The MLAs had voted in favour of Congress candidate K C Ramamurthy.
