The Ministry of Labour and Employment has enhanced the wage limit of employees under ESI scheme from Rs 15,000 to Rs 21,000 per month. The revised wage limit will come into force from January 1, 2017.
The department has launched a one-time special drive, SPREE - Scheme for Promoting Registration of Employers and Employees - to register all eligible employers and employees.
The campaign will be conducted till March 31, 2017. The employers registering during this period will be treated as covered under the ESI scheme from the date of their registration or the date declared by them.
