Dense fog disrupted the arrival and departure of 127 flights at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Thursday morning. This is the worst disruption this season.

As visibility dropped to near zero, the departures of 90 flights were delayed. Three international flights -- a British Airways service to London, an IndiGo and Air Arabia flight -- were among the affected schedules. Twenty-one arrivals were also delayed due to poor visibility.

The disruption, recorded between 5.05 am and 8.42 am, also caused the cancellation of nine flights, two of them to New Delhi and Lucknow. As many as seven flights were diverted to other cities. These included an international cargo flight operated by Lufthansa, an airport spokesperson said.

India Meteorological Department recorded the minimum temperature at KIA as 13 degrees Celsius. The Department has forecast that fog/mist is very likely in the area during morning hours. The minimum temperatures would hover around 15 degrees Celsius in the next two days. These conditions are expected to spark more fog-related flight disruptions.

Thursday's was the second major disruption of the week. The airport sees heavy traffic during mornings.
