A large number of allottees, who have received sites in Arkavathy Layout staged a demonstration in front of BDA office saying that they do not want alternative sites at the proposed Kempegowda Layout.
Embroiled in controversy over the 'missing sites' in Arkavathy Layout, the BDA made an offer to the site allottees of providing them alternative sites at Kempegowda Layout. This has enraged many citizens.
On Wednesday, the Arkavathy allottees assembled at the BDA head office and staged a demonstration under the leadership of Rajajinagar MLA S Suresh Kumar. They submitted a memorandum to special land acquisition officer in the absence of BDA Commissioner Rajkumar Khatri.
Later speaking to reporters, Arkavathy Site Owners' Welfare Association president Bhaskar Reddy said the government's offer to provide alternative sites at Kempegowda Layout to those who have been affected by the 'redo' of Arkavathy Layout, is illegal.
Reddy said, "Arkavathy Layout was formed 11 years ago and according to BDA rules, we are the absolute owners of the land. Arkavathy Layout is fully developed. The development of Kempegowda Layout has not yet begun. We don't want alternative sites in the undeveloped layout."
