The city police on Saturday said so far they have not come across any evidence to establish charges of sedition levelled against Amnesty International India.
"There is no material or evidence so far with the police to prove charges of sedition against Amnesty," Bengaluru Police Commissioner N SMegharik said.
"However, the probe is not over yet. The police still have to question more people, collect evidence and examine it. The investigation carried out so far does not prove the sedition charges," he added.
Home Minister G Parameshwara said he does not believe that Amnesty was involved in any act of sedition.
"I don't believe that Amnesty indulged in seditious (sic) activities. Like the recent protests by farmers in Yamanur, people in Kashmir have been witnessing protests. Amnesty had organised a programme to instil confidence among people," he said.
Parameshwara took exception to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for staging protests and called upon the Congress workers to counter the protest.
Meanwhile, the JCNagar sub-division ACP on Saturday completed questioning of Jayaprakash, organising secretary, ABVP, Bengaluru.
The two other ABVP workers also turned up for interrogation after the police slapped notices on them.
The police have questioned 17 people so far.
The police will question more people who were present at the venue where AII organised the event for Kashmiri families on August 13, said the police.
