The Bengaluru Urban district administration is cracking down on encroachments on government land. Bengaluru Urban Assistant Commissioner D B Natesh has issued notice to 45 properties, including SS Hospital, which is run by the family of former minister Shamanur Shivashankappa.
The notices have been issued under Section 67 of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act. A survey conducted by the tahsildar showed that many properties in Rajarajeshwari Nagar had come up on public land or were built on 'B' Kharab land (wasteland) which belongs to the government.
A technical survey conducted by BBMP also confirmed the encroachments. The matter went to the High Court in September, which ordered the tahsildar and the deputy commissioner to look into all the cases. SS Hospital is accused of encroaching on 0.51 acre of government land, while the Ideal Homes township has grabbed 53.9 acres of public land and a stormwater drain.
Speaking to DH, the official said encroachers had been ordered to vacate the land by December 16 or appear before him with documents to support their claims. Actor Darshan's house is also said to be built on a drain. The matter is before the high court. Image may be NSFW.
