Actors Yash and Radhika Pandit tied the knot on Friday at a specially created 'mantap' on the lawns of Taj West End in the city. The ceremony was attended by the who's who of film world and many political bigwigs.
An estimated 750 family members and friends were present at the wedding which was conceptualised on the Shiva-Parvathi theme. The mantap resembled the Somnathpura temple. The set was specially created and worked on by art director Arun Sagar, using a special kind of fibre.
"It was Radhika's dream to have the wedding in a Somnathpura temple setting, and Yash made sure he made every dream of Radhika come true. He personally supervised the arrangements," said a close friend of the couple.
Radhika, for her part, looked stunning in a golden colour Kanjivaram sari in pure gold zari with a maroon border. "The sari for the muhurtham was hand-woven. The jewellery was custom-made in antique gold with Nakashi work on it," said Saniya Sardariya who put together Yash and Radhika's look for the wedding. Everything from the nose ring to the hairdo had a traditional twist.
The wedding ceremony was held in Gowda style. Radhika wore a Konkani outfit called 'khol' which is a nine-yard sari called 'navvari', for the puja before the actual muhurtham.
Yash was no less dressy. He wore a beige with emerald green border 'kache' and shirt. The outfits in maroon, gold, green and cream were colour-coordinated for the couple. Yash also wore a customised gold 'peta'.
The bridesmaids wore orange while the men's side wore beige 'kurta' with an orange stole.
Not just the wedding, even the menu — carefully selected by Yash and Radhika — had a traditional flavour with every conceivable South Indian dish.
Among those who came to bless the couple from the Kannada film industry were V Ravichandran, Sudeep, Puneeth Rajkumar, Shivarajkumar, Raghavendra Rajkumar, Jayanthi, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, A P Arjun and Anirudh. The political lineup included former chief minister S M Krishna, former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and Jagadish Shettar.
Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, who looked stunning in a purple Kanjivaram sari, said: "I am very happy for the couple. I've worked with Radhika in 'Doddmane Hudga' and I found her to be an extremely homely and lovable girl. Yash, too, is a down-to-earth person. The two perfectly complement each other."
Vinay Rajkumar, who was seen with his father Raghavendra Rajkumar and uncles Puneeth and Shivarajkumar, said: "Yash and Radhika's wedding was truly special because there was a sense of belonging and we felt like we were one."
The wedding reception for family and friends from the film industry will be held at Tripura Vasini at Palace Grounds on December 10. The actors have extended an open invitation to the public and their respective fans' association on December 11 at the same venue.
