The Horticultural Producers Co-operative Marketing and Processing Society Ltd (Hopcoms) on Monday introduced point of sale machines (PoS) at 40 outlets in the city. Hopcoms managing director B Krishna told reporters that this has been introduced as sellers and buyers were finding it difficult to make cash transactions. Soon, all 250 outlets in the city will be equipped with the machines.

Krishna said that for the first time, under the public-private partnership, a 1,200-sqft outlet has been opened in Kasturinagar on pilot basis. The outlet belongs to a private party while Hopcoms provides the produce and gets a commission on the sales.

Here, not just fruits and vegetables, but other food, kitchen and kitchen garden items are also sold. Based on the response, it will be implemented across the city and in other districts in the state.
