Mayor G Padmavathi on Thursday flagged off a cycle rally from Kashmir to Kanyakumari aimed at promoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship programme Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Padmavathi hailed the group comprising 22 people, including girls, which is covering the length and breadth of the country to send across the message of cleanliness.
She called upon the cyclists to educate people about the ill-effects of open defecation and importance of clean drinking water and clean surroundings.
The cycle rally, started from Jammu on November 5, will end at Kanyakumari on December 9.
