No relief from garbage

My grievance on garbage woes was published in these columns in the edition dated November 14. Following this, there is less burning of garbage on PSK Naidu Road, Cox Town.

But, garbage continues to be dumped at this spot. Can authorities take stringent measures to prevent people from dumping garbage on the road?

Park development delayed

A piece of land was reserved for a park at Vidyagiri Layout in Nagarabhavi/Nayandahalli ward as approved in the BDA plan. However, till date, no park has come up. The BBMP should wake up and develop the park at the earliest.

Colossal waste of water

The gents' toilet at Chowdiah Memorial Hall has a facility available for 40 men where water automatically gets flushed out of the commodes as they do not have a manual dispenser.

It is because of this fully automated water flushing facility that hundreds of gallons of precious water is being wasted away each day. The authorities should address this issue at the earliest so as to stop colossal waste of water.

Deep craters greet commuters

Dwaraka Vasa Road in Bharathnagar is an important road connecting Magadi Road and other areas like Nagarabhavi. However, in spite of its importance, the entire stretch running parallel to Magadi Road in Bharathnagar has been neglected and its condition has worsened over the months.

There are potholes all along the stretch, with deep craters at many places. This puts commuters under great hardship when they navigate the bad stretch. This road has also become accident prone. The authorities concerned are requested to get the road repaired at the earliest to ease the problems of road users.

Garbage, cattle menace

Heaps of garbage are dumped at Sarakki market located below the Metro rail viaduct on Kanakapura Road. Between 9 am and 10 am, the garbage collection truck is parked right under the viaduct at the junction, blocking vehicular movement.

The cattle feed on the garbage, which pours on to the road while being loaded into the truck, further obstructing traffic. No action has been taken to prevent this, despite the corporators, MLA and traffic police being aware of the matter.

Mayor's ward in bad state

Iron rods have been dumped at the entrance to 59th 'B' Cross, Post Office Road, Rajajinagar for the past six months. Motorists risk their safety while driving on the stretch. I lodged a complaint on the BBMP website a week ago, but there has been no remedy so far. The place has been neglected, even though it is part of the ward represented by Mayor Padmavathi.

Dysfunctional ATMs

I have been a Canara Bank customer for over two decades but the dysfunctional ATMs of the bank have left many customers like me in a state of despondency to stand in long queues of other bank ATMs to draw Rs 2,000. Had Canara Bank ATMs functioned as normal there would have been no need for us to queue up elsewhere, adding to the crowds in such places.

Road blocked by taxis

An attachment office for Ola and Uber taxis was opened recently on 3rd main, 10th cross, NGEF Layout, Nagarabhavi. Taxis are parked on both sides of the road, creating a hurdle for motorists and nuisance to residents. We find no parking space for our vehicles. Also, the taxi drivers litter the place. This being a residential locality, the commercial activity is causing a lot of disturbance.

Garden city turns 'scrap city'

The illuminated advertisement hoardings erected on the median of Bannerghatta Road a few years ago have turned into scrap and make for an ugly sight. Bengaluru, once known as the Garden City, has sadly become a garbage hub.
