The third phase of the Nagarothana scheme for creating urban infrastructure and amenities in towns and cities will give priority to drinking water projects, Minister of State for Municipal Administration Eshwar Khandre said on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, Khandre said the state government will roll out the third phase of Nagarothana scheme at a cost of Rs 2,856 crore and will be implemented across 264 urban local bodies from December.
He said contractors have been instructed to complete all works taken up under the second phase of Nagarothana scheme by the end of December. He said while there has been a delay in completion of works taken up under phase two, quality had not been compromised.
If the public notice shoddy work being taken up then they can immediately bring it to the notice of urban development department officials, Khandre said. If poor quality work is confirmed then criminal cases will be filed against the contractors.
A software has been developed to keep track of projects that will be taken up under phase three of the scheme, the minister said.
