The High Court on Thursday dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking directions to stay the ongoing demolitions on stormwater drains.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice Ravi Malimath dismissed the PIL as the petitioners advocate withdrew the petition.
The petitioner, Latha Ramesh, a resident of Jayanagar had sought a stay on the demolition drive contending that Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had not issued proper notices to the building owners before demolishing the structures.
The petitioner had sought directions to the Palike to examine whether the course of the stormwater drains in the city can be altered to save the buildings that have come up on the drains over the years.
