A day after the much-talked-about- wedding of mining baron Janardhana Reddys daughter at the Palace Grounds, curious onlookers and citizens flocked to the venue on Thursday morning to see the replica of the historical structures before they were dismantled.

Senior citizens, college students, working professionals and children thronged the Palace Grounds with a few even taking selfies against the backdrop of replicas, including the iconic monuments of Hampi and others recreated for the big-ticket wedding. The curious visitors also videographed the venue on their mobile phones.

Uday Kumar from Kathri- guppe, along with five of his friends, visited the Palace Grounds just to see the replica of Purandara Mantapa and Sri Vijaya Vittala temple.

While Purandara Mantapa is a place in Hampi, where Purandaradasa, a prominent composer of Dasa Sahithya, spent his last days, Sri Vittala temple is considered the most extravagant architectural showpiece of Hampi.

Kumar said, "We read about the wedding and watched it on television. We wanted to see how it looks in real. Sri Vittala temple re-creation looks like the original and the wedding hall wherein Lord Vittala and other deities are erected, gives the feeling of a temple."

Ballari rural life
Narasimha N, who came from Koramangala with his family, said he liked the re-creations of Ballari rural life, that included the school in which Reddy studied.

Unnecessary expenditure
While Narasimha appreciated the detailing and effort that had gone into making the replicas, he said, "I wish the former minister had spent 30% of the wedding expenditure on the development and maintenance of the iconic landmarks that have been created here."

Another visitor, Shankar G, expressed similar views. Meanwhile, hundreds of workers were dismantling pillars and other decorations on Thursday.

A few plastic cups, plantain leaves and withered flowers were found scattered near the wedding reception area. The workers there said that by Thursday night, everything would be cleared.

A worker from Kalaburagi, who did not wish to be named, said that the landmark replicas made out of fibre glass will be dismantled only after they receive directions from Reddy's family.
