The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will shortly take up ward level works worth Rs 465 crore across the city.

At a meeting chaired by ward-wise committee chairperson of BBMP B Bhadregowda on Wednesday, approvals were given to 2,401 works worth Rs 465 crore. It was decided in the meeting to speed up the process of giving contracts and initiate the works at the earliest. The committee gave its nod for a single window system where all necessary approvals from the executive engineer to the chief engineer, chief finance officer, special commissioner to commissioner, will be accorded in one go.

"We have made arrangements for granting technical, financial and administrative approvals on a single day. We will also expedite issuing task oders so that the works start immediately," said Gowda while speaking to reporters.

According to the plan, East, West and South zones of the BBMP will have more prominence as works worth Rs 267 crore will be carried out whereas the newly-added areas of Bommanahalli, Yelahanka, Mahadevapura, Rajarajeshwarinagar and Dasarahalli have not been granted enough funds. Despite the area's crumbling infrastructure, the most neglected has been Dasarahalli, which got only Rs 24 crore.
