Five district judges were elevated and sworn in as additional judges of the Karnataka High Court on Monday.
John Michael D'Cunha, who convicted and sentenced Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in the disproportionate assets case in September 2014, is among the five judges.
Along with him, Kempaiah Somashekhar, Kotravva Somappa Mudagal, Sreenivas Harish Kumar and Basavaraj Andanagouda Patil were also sworn in as additional judges of the high court.
With their appointment, the number of judges in the Karnataka High Court has increased to 29.
