Steel scrap uncleared
Steel scrap that was cleared from Bright Kids School building at Kammanahalli a couple of days ago has been dumped on the footpath at 2nd Cross Road, 3rd Main Road, Kammanahalli (opposite Café Thulp outlet).

The scrap obstructs pedestrian movement and poses danger to vehicles. Neither the BBMP nor police have taken any action against the irresponsible building owner.

Gas chamber
Municipal workers lift garbage at PSK Naidu Road, Cox Town, and burn it there itself. The place turns into a gas chamber from 7 onwards every morning and the dense smoke gets into our apartment which, unfortunately, is located close-by.

Rude BMTC driver

A few days ago, a BMTC bus stopped near a traffic signal at Mariappanapalya and a woman boarded through the front door. The driver snapped at her and abused her. The BMTC staff need to be trained in civil behaviour and courtesy. Ironically, some drivers and conductors allow passengers to board the bus wherever they wish while some buses do not stop at designated stops.

Stray dogs near school in Horamavu

The road abutting the government primary school at Horamavu is packed with at least 20 stray dogs. It has become difficult for people to walk on the road in the evening.

Oral and written complaints to the BBMP have gone in vain. The BBMP staff say they can only sterilise the dogs as per a Supreme Court order.

Delay in PID correction
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike's (BBMP) eastern zone (Shanthinagar) has been unable to serve people who apply for correction in the Property Identification (PID).

I had filed an application in February this year at the ARO office and was given the bizarre explanation that the civic agency did not have proper instruction or the password to access the software.

I then approached other departments to move my application to the RO, the deputy commissioner and finally the joint commissioner.

After nine months, my file was approved but it has now been sent back to the ARO — the very place where I started. I filed a complaint on the Sahaaya website (complaint number 10601314), but no action has been taken as yet.

Rainwater harvesting a damp squib

Sometime ago, the BBMP made rainwater harvesting mandatory for new construction as well as domestic/commercial buildings. The water tariff was increased for buildings that don't comply. But the scheme has failed as the BBMP hasn't cracked down on the violators.

Pickpockets in BMTC buses
Someone stole my mobile phone when I was dismounting a BMTC bus near the Silk Board stop. I filed a complaint at the Madiwala police station the same day. Police told me about similar complaints from the bus stop. Police and the BMTC authorities need to keep a tight vigil at crowded bus stops.

Shift bus stop

The bus stop at Dinnur Main Road, near White House, where buses bound for KR Market, Majestic and other destinations pull in, is in a horrible condition. There is a bakery nearby where people park their vehicles haphazardly, inconveniencing bus passengers as well as causing traffic congestion. To make matters worse is the fact that Dinnur Main Road is narrow. A possible solution is to move the bus stop just before Kotak Mahendra Bank where the road is slightly wider.

Signboard damaged beyond repair
A concrete signboard put up by the BBMP in Coffee Board Layout was useful for outsiders. The signboard, however, is now being used by people to stick bills, and has been damaged beyond repair. The authorities concerned should take immediate steps to put up a new signboard that can last long. They should also put up a notice, warning of penal action against those who deface the board.
