The High Court on Friday ordered issuance of notice to the BBMP, the BMTF and the traffic police in a PIL seeking directions to remove encroachments on the footpath for pedestrians to walk on Vijayanagar Main Road.
The petitioner, Desai D Hemesh Babu, has contended that encroachment by vendors and hawkers on the road has made it difficult for the public to walk on the footpath, forcing them to use the service road.
The petitioner has asked the BBMP to provide enough parking space for the vehicles of the Metro commuters since parked two-wheelers are also blocking their way. A division bench comprising Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice R B Budihal ordered notices and adjourned the hearing.
