Bengaluru will host a two-day summit on women entrepreneurship and economic empowerment from November 14 aimed at enhancing the capacity of women business owners.
Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru on Monday, Industries Minister RVDesphande said "ThinkBig 2006 - Women in Business" Summit will be Asia's largest forum for women entrepreneurs to tap business opportunities in public and private sectors.
The two-day event will be held at Bengaluru InternationalExhibition Centre (BIEC)and around 2,000 women entrepreneurs, industry leaders and 35 banks are expected to participate. The event is being organised by WEconnect, a Non-profit organisation that helps women entrepreneurs.
Desphande said the summit will also help in finding solutions to the challenges faced by women and connect them with business the ecosystem. As many as 262 exhibition stalls have already been booked, Desphande said. Seminars on access to markets, access to technology, finance, among others will be held as a part of the summit. Key speakers include National Commission for Women Chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam, Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant among others.
The state government will bear the travel cost of 400 women delegates who will be brought to Bengaluru to participate in the summit from various parts of the state, Deshpande said.
