The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths trapped a treasury inspector on Friday while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
The ACB sleuths registered a case against Sathyanarayana, the treasury inspector of Kotthatthi - 3 hobli in Mandya district, for receiving the bribe and detained him under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
A farmer and his family members had divided their agricultural land at Thimmana Hosur village in Mandya district in 2011. The farmer had filed an application before the department of Survey Settlement and Land Record (SSLR) seeking the survey of his agricultural land.
The SSLR had written to the officials of the Revenue department seeking their opinion over conducting the survey, and the latter had given their opinion.
Sathyanarayana demanded Rs 10,000 bribe from the applicant to place the Revenue department's opinion before the senior officers of the SSLR. The applicant lodged a complaint with the ACB and the treasury inspector was trapped at his office while accepting the bribe.
