Bengaluru Development Minister K J George on Thursday said the state government may soon come out with an attractive policy on Transfer of Development Rights (TDR).

George was speaking to reporters during the city rounds to inspect the development works. He said the new TDR policy will help in acquiring private properties for infrastructure projects like road widening in the city and ease traffic congestion.

Accompanied by city legislators, Mayor G Padmavathi and top officials of BDA and the BBMP, George inspected various development activities. BBMP officials drew his attention towards the pathetic condition of Chikkalalbagh, which lost 83 trees due to the Metro Rail project. They apprised him that the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has acquired three-fourth of the park land for their project. To this, George said he will ask the BMRCL to restore the park.

At Mallathahalli lake in West Bengaluru, George took note of sewage polluting the lake. Padmavathi informed him that the state government has sanctioned Rs 37 crore for a sewage treatment plant there, but the money has not been released yet.

George said, "We will call a meeting soon and ensure that the STP comes up by next year."
He also visited places like Tulasi Thota, BTM Layout, Ullala, Binnipet, Yeshwantpur and parts of Gandhinagar Assembly constituency, where residents poured out their woes to him. Residents of Ullala urged the minister to direct the BDA to rejuvenate the lake.

The minister also visited Mestripalya Lake in BTM Layout, which has been revived recently.
At KP Agrahara, the minister directed the Palike officials to asphalt the pothole-ridden road. He directed the officials to speed up work on the proposed Rs 204-crore flyover at Ejipura, announced in the budget.
