G Balakrishna, a Bengaluru-based water tanker driver, has won the Mr Asia title at the 5th Phil-Asia bodybuilding championships in Philippines.Known as the Arnold Schwarzenegger of Whitefield, the body builder is also an ardent fan of Schwarzenegger. Balakrishna started body building at the age of 14.
Apart from Mr Asia, he has also won several body building titles. The noted titles are Mr Universe title Under 24, where he secured the 6th place on his debut at the International level body building championship in 2010. The athlete won the first place in the same category after three years in Germany in 2013.
"I practise for nearly six hours daily and also work as a gym instructor. Besides driving the tanker, I dedicate time to body building and follow a strict diet," says Balakrishna, whose diet includes 750 g of chicken, 25 eggs, 300 g of rice, 200 g of vegetables a day, besides fish, and fruits.
Being the sole breadwinner of the family, Balakrishna started the water tanker business in 2010 to supplement his income as a gym instructor.
At present, the athlete is in need of a sponsor for the Mr Universe competition in Germany.
