The High Court on Thursday directed the state government to follow guidelines framed by a committee headed by former High Court judge, Justice Nagmohan Das, while conferring the Rajyostava award.
Justice S Abdul Nazeer, while disposing of a petition, directed the state government to implement and follow guidelines to select eligible candidates for the award.
The order was passed on a petition filed by B V Satyanarayana Rao, who had approached the High Court seeking directions to the state government to consider his application for the award. He had contended that the government does not have any guidelines in place while selecting the candidates for the award. The bench had directed the state government to constitute a committee to frame guidelines after which the government constituted a 22-member committee headed by former High Court judge, Justice Nagmohan Das.
