Citizens for Bengaluru (CfB) has now taken to social media to make their voice heard against the steel flyover.
After a bitter experience with the state's Congress government, citizens have turned their attention to the party's national leaders.
Over 200 volunteers started a Twitter campaign on Wednesday and are tweeting to all national Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Digvijaya Singh. The tweets are apprising the politicians about what the state government is doing. In just half an hour since 8 pm, over 300 people shared, re-tweeted and followed the tweets. Srinivas Alavilli, one of the members of CfB told DH that the Congress, especially Rahul Gandhi has been criticising the Modi government and repeatedly calls it a "Suit- Boot ki Sarkar".
"But this is exactly what the Congress is doing in Bengaluru. They are targeting only airport goers and constructing the steel flyover to ease travel time. We are telling the Congress high command that the government is undertaking the project by ignoring the voice of the masses," he said.
Some of the tweets sent to Rahul Gandhi and Digvijaya Singh said that "over 8,000 people formed a human chain in Bengaluru against the steel flyover and it was not a beer and biryani rally" and "Ur sarkar in Karnataka is also Suit-Boot ki sarkar".
Through the Twitter campaign, the agitators are pointing out to the Congress high command and to national media that Bengaluru is a prime city and there are very few Congress-ruled states in India and the present acts of the Congress government will not take then any further if the voices of the masses are neglected. The aim is to reach out to Congress politicians in Delhi and draw the attention of larger sections of society against the steel flyover.
