Bengaluru Development Minister K J George on Tuesday visited the woman who had attempted suicide on the BDA premises on Monday.
He met doctors, her family members and enquired about Mangalas health at the Lady Curzon and Bowring Hospital. Later, he told reporters that the government will bear the cost of her treatment. He also promised to expedite the process to release Rs 4 crore compensation to be given by the BDA for acquiring her property for an underpass project on the Outer Ring Road.
Mangala was admitted to Lady Curzon and Bowring Hospital after she consumed pesticide in front of the land acquisition officer at the BDA on Monday.
Hospital Superintendent Dr K S Manjunath said Mangala has been kept in the ICU following breathing problems. "She needs to be on a ventilator for the next four to five days," he said.
